Councilman Justin Freeman offers a background in business and finance as he serves his hometown of Ahoskie. A graduate of Hertford County High School in 2005, Freeman went on to Duke University where he completed his studies with a Bachelor of Arts in 2009. At Duke, he was a student-athlete, playing football and studying Markets & Management, Sociology, and Religion. He then immediately continued his studies at East Carolina University, where he earned a Master of Business Administration and met his now-wife Sarah Chewning Freeman of Columbia, South Carolina.
Freeman works as a Real Estate Broker with Freeman Realty of Ahoskie. Prior to a career in real estate, he worked in Business & Finance at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, where he helped students find ways to make college affordable. While still in school, Freeman also worked with the Ahoskie Recreation Department for several years where he managed the town’s baseball and softball programs.
Councilman Freeman is a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Ahoskie, where he teaches Sunday School. Freeman also works as an independent financial consultant with colleges and universities across the country who struggle with declining enrollments among many other issues.
“I want to hear from the people of Ahoskie,” Freeman said. “My job as a councilman is to represent the interests of the tax-paying citizens of this town. So I encourage all citizens to reach out to me by calling, texting, emailing, or engaging on social media. Your concerns are my concerns and I want to hear your thoughts!”
